A leading primary health care organisation working with
general practice to improve the health of our communities.

Objectives

The objectives of the company are to promote the improvement of the health and well being of persons in the region by:

  • Strengthening the effectiveness and vitality of General Practice through support of members and General Practices in the Region.
  • Advocating and representing the interests of General Practitioners to local health authorities and other organisations and to the public.
  • Contributing to the development of local health policy in collaboration with members, principally in the field of primary health care.
  • Promoting cooperation and communication between General Practice and other elements of the health care system.
  • Providing local leadership in health system development, principally in the field of primary health care.
  • Obtaining deductible gift recipient status in order to receive gifts from the general public and other entities for the purposes of carrying out charitable activities for the improvement of the health and well being of persons in the Region.

Further to the above, to do all such acts as are incidental and conducive to the furtherance of the above objectives.

Long-term goals

  • An effective, efficient and financially viable Division.Established, robust and innovative models of primary health care that improve the health of the community with emphasis on Health Promotion, Prevention and Chronic Disease Management.
  • A program that supports general practice in developing and maintaining sustainable business models.
  • A high level of member engagement.
  • The formation of collaborative and partnership arrangements with key stakeholders and the community.
  • A program that supports recruitment and retention of a multidisciplinary General Practice workforce.
  • A division workforce of highly skilled and qualified professionals to deliver programs and services.

Strategies to pursue long-term goals

  • Identify networking opportunities with other Divisions.
  • Source opportunistic funding to implement models of innovative primary health care.
  • Identify and address gaps in primary health care services across the Division area.
  • Maintain programs that support the recruitment and retention of a multi-disciplinary General Practice workforce.
  • Develop collaborative and partnership arrangements with key stakeholders and the community.
  • Develop partnership arrangements to address Indigenous and Refugee Health.
  • Maintain a centre of excellence in general practice business support.
  • Establish the Riverina Collaboratives Program to incorporate existing and new practices.
  • Maintain a professional development program to enhance recruitment and retention of Division staff.
  • Expand the Division’s membership base.
