A healthly lifestyle program for children aged 7 to 13 years and their familiesAbout the Program ( Factsheet) The MEND Program is an evidence-based intervention program for children who are overweight or obese, and their families. MEND stands for ‘Mind, Exercise, Nutrition…Do it!’ It is a comprehensive 10-week program aiming to improve fitness, promote healthy eating and boost self esteem. MEND seeks to reduce children’s risk of chronic lifestyle-related diseases through enjoyable, interactive learning. Features of the program include two after-school sessions per week, combining nutrition education, behaviour modification strategies and fun, game-based physical activity. Other highlights of MEND are a supermarket tour and a ‘fabulous food fest’ of healthy recipes.
