Mental health support and assistance for drought affected communities

About the program (  Factsheet)

The Drought Initiative program provides rural community’s with crisis counseling, referral options and community development for individuals, their families and their communities. Primary Health Care Nurses and trained Project Officers provide selected rural community’s with crisis counseling for individuals and their families.

Communities in the Riverina region include Temora, Cootamundra and West Wyalong and their surrounding smaller feeder communities of Ganmain, Stockinbingal, Ariah Park, Ardlethan, Weethallee, Tallimba, Barmedman and Ungarie. Communities in the Broken Hill region include Menindee, Wilcannia and White Cliffs.
